Discovery: Resa

Resa is a Norwegian R&B artist whose new track Sunday is a bold exploration of submission in a feminist world.

By Graeme Smith

Lyrically, Sunday is something of an uncomfortable listen. When Resa declares “I love it when you hold me down sometimes… I don’t know why” you sense the conflict in her words. She enjoys being submissive sometimes but feels guilty for it in a world where women are increasingly expected to be self-sufficient (the latest in a long line of expectations of women).

It’s a really well-written and thought-provoking track delivered through smooth and emotive vocals and slow, jazzy R&B. Alongside being a singer, Resa, real name Theresa Frostad Eggesbø, is also an actress. You may have seen her in Ragnarok on Netflix. At only 20 years old, it feels as if she may take the world by storm. Check out Sunday below.
