Dancing #2 is the new instrumental track from American nu jazz outfit Honeytrap, released today.
By Graeme Smith
What stood out to me about Dancing #2 is that it always keeps you guessing what will come next. Just as you’ve settled into the rhythm, things take a left turn and you’re faced with a drum solo accompanied by a low, barely-there electronic bass. Then, a sudden explosion of sound changes things up once again. With a focus on improvisation, it truly is a jazz song, but there’s nothing traditional about it.
Hailing from New York City, Honeytrap is a collective of eight instrumentalists, with support from vocalists and emcees, led by Peter Enriquez. I really like their bold sound and I hope you do too. Check out the video for Dancing #2 below.
