Play Dead are a London garage punk trio whose new track Shaun tells the story of bassist Ollie’s nan’s boyfriend, a geezer who you definitely wouldn’t want to get on the wrong side of.

There is simplicity and concision to the lyrics of Shaun, repeated, machine gun phrases paint a picture of the eponymous Shaun’s character with great effect. Musically things are noisy, distorted and everything you’d expect from garage punk. It’s definitely one you can throw yourself about to.
Hailing from South London, Play Dead are young and clearly full of energy. I think they’ll do well on the national DIY scene and I wouldn’t be surprised if they come to a town near you soon. Check out Shaun below.
