Lupe Fiasco is a man who has already achieved global recognition. He’s a GRAMMY winner and was GQ’s Man of the Year in 2006, but I’ve made a personal discovery of his music through his new track, a collaboration with producer Kaelin Ellis, called Shoes.
By Graeme Smith
Shoes is the lead single from their collaborative EP House, a five track reflection on modern society. Lupe certainly has a unique perspective and he delivers it through free-flowing verse and intricate wordplay.
The track also features audio from architect Virgil Abloh describing hypothetically designing shoes for Ahmaud Arbery, a black man shot in February this year while jogging.
Shoes, for me, feels like the product of masters of their art coming together and creating something that goes deeper. You can check it out below.
