American singer songwriter Justin Trawick wrote Back of The Line in the depths of pandemic lockdown. Yet, somehow it manages to be oddly uplifting.

The track is a piece of easy Americana, composed largely of simple acoustic guitar refrains and licks of piano. It’s perhaps that simplicity that really makes it, putting the vocals and lyrics front and centre. In an gravelly voice, Justin delivers a life-affirming and memorable chorus. As the track progresses, the complexity of the arrangement grows and the climax is stunning.
The clever lyric video plays with text to really bring the lyrics to life. You can check it out below.
