DeLange is a Dutch neo-classical composer and pianist whose intimate melodies in new track Desire caught my ear.
By Graeme Smith
Desire is the tale of one man, a piano and a heap of emotions. The melody rises and falls, patterns changing, returning and subverting expectations. It provokes sadness and hope, like being trapped in a maze but not being in a rush to get out. Much like, I suppose, the feeling of desire.
Raised on a diet of Chopin, Rachmaninoff, Satie and Debussy, DeLange is bringing classic composition to the twenty-first century in a personal and relatable way. If you’re not usually into classical music, you may be surprised by how much Desire will grab you. Check it out below. If you like it, look out for his debut album which will be released 25 September.
