CEEYS are a pair of brothers and neo-classical composers based in Potsdam, Germany whose new video Reunion explores the theme of duality.
By Graeme Smith
Pairs play a big part in Reunion. From the visuals that feature a pair of twin sisters, to the composition with two concurrent melodies, to the makeup of the act itself. CEEYS is made up of Sebastian and Daniel Selke, a cello and piano duo.
But outside the physical pairings, the track also explores Communist-era East Germany, one half of a country rendered into two for a large part of the 20th Century. It’s a lot to get over in less than five minutes but the composition and visuals keep things fresh and interesting. Above all, Reunion is a thing of beauty.
