Yllwshrk are a band from the North of England who have applied their classical background to alternative rock to create something uniquely their own.

Their new track Northern Soul opens gently enough. Vocals that invoke easy-listening meld with a mesmerising electric guitar melody before mournful strings and drums float in, adding some texture.

When the explosion of sound comes, it’s exactly what you hope for. The easy vocals become strained and pregnant with emotion. The guitar riff gives way to a meandering bass line and the drums lift.
