King No-One are one of York’s most successful exports. The indie pop band are known to frequently perform headline tours across the country and they always sell out their hometown dates. It’s hardly surprising when they keep putting out bangers – the latest being their new track Get You Right.
By Graeme Smith
Get You Right ventures away from the band’s traditional guitar-based indie pop with heavy overtones of ’80s synths that are ever present. They provide the groundwork for the track’s hooky melody and soaring chorus which singer Zach Lount makes his own.
The song was written after Zach was seriously attacked in a street mugging and then had to recover from it cooped up in lockdown. Yet, in spite of its sad origins, the overall message of Get You Right is one of hope, that things always get better eventually.
