Discovery: KiD RAiN

British pop singer KiD RAiN subverts expectation in his new track Live For The Weekend.

By Graeme Smith

With a name like Live For The Weekend, you’d be forgiven for thinking this is a party song. Musically, it’s upbeat and KiD RAiN’s vocals are rich with pop sensibilities. Listen a little closer though, and you’ll notice the lyrics are the antithesis of your common or garden club track.

This song is a cry for a help and a personal call to arms to find more in life than drinking and superficial behaviour. This contrast sets Live For The Weekend apart from the standard radio fare and that’s why it caught my ear.

I’m not the only one who has taken notice. Nickelodeon, Metro and the Daily Star have all given him favourable coverage, as has BBC Introducing, Spotify and Deezer.

If you’re looking for something a bit different from your pop music, KiD RAiN’s stuff might be it. Check out Live For The Weekend below.
