Liesl is a singer songwriter based in Berlin who spent her formative years in South Africa. Her new track Driveway Bruises is a rumination on memory, nostalgia and attempts to recapture a lost childhood as it slowly fades.

It’s a melancholic track but there can be a beauty in melancholy. Liesl’s vocals are delicate, an aural salve, and it’s easy to be drawn into her memory as the track’s story unfolds. There is rich imagery in the lyrics, little universal touches of childhood to which the title of the track alludes.
The video, composed of home videos from her family’s time in South Africa and Mozambique, add the sense of nostalgia and hazy memory. You can check it out below.
