Jesse Brady is a singer songwriter based in Nashville, USA who first hit my radar through her track Transformations last month. I was captured by her attention to detail in her lyrics and bright instrumentals. Her new track Happiness Block is a little more downbeat but the lyrics are equally expressive.

Happiness Block tells the story of trying and failing to be happy. Yet, there are layers to the tale. The ‘block’ in the song is brought to life through an extended concrete metaphor. The track is filled with references to childhood pain – scrapes and bruises – and how that pain transforms as your grow older. The lyrics are as spell-bounding as they are heart-breaking.
Jesse’s vocals take centre stage, accompanied only by her acoustic guitar, and the emotion she conveys feels authentic. I couldn’t help but relate. Check out Happiness Block below.
