The key to good song writing, in my opinion, is to find your voice. That’s exactly what Canadian newcomer Lia Pappas-Kemps has done in her globetrotting new track and video Sad In Toronto.
By Graeme Smith
As you’d expect from the song’s title, Sad In Toronto is a melancholic track. Lia’s delicate vocal delivery is tinged with a malaise but they deliver their story with conviction. There are some wonderful details that give the track a sense of space and location. You can close your eyes and join Lia on her journey.
I’d recommend keeping your eyes open to enjoy the video though. It mirrors the track, filmed in multiple locations and putting the young singer-songwriter front and centre. I’m expecting great thing from Lia; she’s an incredibly accomplished song writer for someone so early in their career. Check out Sad In Toronto below.
