Birmingham-based alternative pop singer Madelyn has just released her fifth single – Be It All and it’s got something of a throwback feel to it.
By Graeme Smith
If Be It All had been released circa 1997, it would find itself on mixtapes alongside the likes of Morcheeba and Groove Armada. Yet, there is a modern edge to Madelyn’s music. Lyrically, things feel right up to date. The track is about self-realisation and finding a new confidence, something that is definitely en vogue.
Madelyn studied music at Bristol University before settling into Birmingham to continue to refine her sound. With all four of her previous singles gaining attention from the likes of BBC Introducing, I’d say she’s well on her way.
