The lyrics to Pool Party are instantly arresting. “If baby’s bad put her on a diet,” Maisyn declares in the opening verse, spelling out the tragedy and anger involved with self-image issues. The track’s mellow and uplifting instrumentals keep things approachable, though, and the message is ultimately a positive one.
Pool Party is the third single from Maisyn’s upcoming EP which due out next month. I love how she’s been able to create such wonderful art from her struggles and this kind of relatable pop will certainly find an audience.
