Penny is an electro pop artist from down the road in Huddersfield who I discovered through her debut single Sad Puppy back in July. She’s followed it up already with a new track and video this time called Ur Girl’s Fine.

Get ready for some ’90s nostalgia because the video for Ur Girl’s Fine has it in spades. Bad fashion, grainy home video footage and trips down the pub are all there in abundance and the sense of the last decade of the 20th century is expertly observed.
The track has a lowkey groove and a compelling seductiveness. Yet, though the story seems romantic, it is in fact covering up a toxic relationship. The undercurrent of sadness that flows through Ur Girl’s Fine captures this perfectly.
I said it before and I’ll say it again. Penny is an incredible talent. It’s only a matter of time before she’s hit the big time.
