The Deep Blue are an indie pop trio from Manchester whose dreamy new track He Said She Said caught my ear.
By Graeme Smith
In He Said She Said, I was first struck by its laid back instrumentals and beautiful vocal harmonies. Listening a little closer though, what stayed with me was its honest and insightful lyrics. Focussing on how little acts of sexism and gender norms cause death by a thousand cuts, it makes its point really effectively through detailed vignettes.
The track is the second single from their debut EP which was written during 2020’s lockdown. The trio take inspiration from the likes of Fleetwood Mac and The Staves and fans of both those bands will find a lot to love about The Deep Blue’s sound.
