Jan Järvlepp is a Canadian neoclassical composer who has decided to inject the genre with the excitement of rock and jazz with his new project High Voltage Chamber Music. To do so, he’s teamed up with the Sirius Quartet and other collaborators.

Their latest release is called String Quartet No. 1: III. Skating and sees them teaming up with Jae Cosmos Lee. As you’d expect, it’s a lively piece that really manages to convey the joy and excitement of skating. The arrangement ebbs and flows but never loses pace as it glides through its six minute runtime.
