Penna Brae is a Vancouver, Canada-based artist I first discovered last month through his upbeat love song Mona. His latest has a very different mood about it. It’s called Night Crawling.

Nicely timed for Halloween, Night Crawling houses a creepy tale. Delivered through his characteristic breezy pop rock style, the spookiness is created by the lyrics, which at once is a horror story and a love story. I think what I love most about Pennan’s style is that he keeps things simple and familiar while simultaneously pushing boundaries where it matters most.
The accompanying video mirrors the style of Mona’s, instead using ’50s B-movie footage to illustrate the song’s story. You can check it out below.
