Bares, real name Ella Sterland, is an indie pop singer songwriter based in Melbourne, Australia. Her new track Fruit is a meditation on Summer, which is just starting in the southern hemisphere, yet it’s not your typical bright and breezy Summer track.

The title of the track refers to Ella’s focus on summer fruits to manage the sense of panic she gets when the weather starts to get warm. Lyrically, the track is honest and full of vulnerability but the edge is taken off by the track’s smooth groove that draws on retro funk and soul influences.
Bares has gained some notoriety already through her music being featured in the cult Netflix hit Terrace House but I certainly think she deserves some more international attention. Her sound is so easy to love. You can check out Fruit below.
