New Music: Roma Rose – Mother Of The Boy In The Band

Roma Rose is a Scottish singer songwriter who I’ve featured a couple of times before on the blog. Her ability to weave a story with her music never fails to impress, and that continues to be the case with her latest release, Mother Of The Boy In The Band.

Its release is timed to coincide with the anniversary of John Lennon’s death and the music legend was very much at the forefront of Roma’s mind as she penned her lyrics. It’s a meditation on what it must feel like when someone close to you dies, and mourning while the world also does. The story is told in Roma’s characteristic style, with soft, intimate instrumentals and charismatic vocals.

The song also doubles as an unconventional Christmas song, along the lines of Joni Mitchell’s The River and Taylor Swift’s ‘Tis The Damn Season. You can hear Mother of The Boy In The Band below.
