Discovery: Apricot Ink

Apricot Ink are an alternative pop trio based in Canberra, Australia whose sultry and sexy new track Usually caught my attention.

By Graeme Smith

Usually is a track that is compelling in its openness and honesty. Telling the story of being attracted to a man when you’re usually into women, it’s so beautifully realised, with references to “static in the sheets” and “the potential of my imagination.” The vocal delivery suits the tale perfectly, breathy and seductive, while a minimal electronic groove and harmonies complete the picture.

Apricot Ink is a relatively new project with their debut double single Lucky Rainbow/Carmelyzed Crusade only being released last year. With this kind of authentic song writing, I expect big things from them.
