Interview: Cindy-Louise

Before Christmas, I completed a round-up review and playlist of songs containing elements of holiday/Christmas music. Cindy-Louise created a really unique track, titled A Different Little Christmas. I was so intrigued by her music I wanted to find out more – read on below to learn more about Cindy-Louise and her sound.

What can you tell us about the track and where can it be purchased?

The track was inspired by Tim Burton’s The Nightmare Before Christmas – I really wanted to write a Christmas song that broke all the traditional themes and sounds. My husband also loves Christmas and loves how I always include a creepy element in my music, so I wrote this for him. You can find my track on all music platforms (YouTube, iTunes, Spotify).

Would you ever consider doing more Christmas/holiday songs in the future? How do you celebrate the holidays?

I was definitely thinking of making this song into a whole themed album, so we will see what the future holds. I usually spend it with my lovely family, just eating wonderful food and having loads of laughs.

What is the writing and recording process like for you?

I just get an idea in my head and run to the piano and press the record button before I forget. It’s like hitting inspiration in the moment. I write the song and then find the perfect team to make my music and my vison a reality. In this case it was:

Cindy-Louise – lead/backing vocals & songwriter,
Andre Remesses Scheepers – additional instrumentation and composition,
Clinton Nicholas Watts of Watts Productions – chief mixing and mastering,
Frank de Jong (Hal5studio) – recording studio.

Have you got any plans to release a full-length album or an EP anytime soon?

I recently released my debut album Humanity, and it has been doing really well. I am always working on songs and I think that a couple of them are going to make an awesome album very soon.

Whereabouts are you based and what is the music scene like in your part of the world?

I am currently based in The Netherlands and the music scene is usually very lively, but due to regulations most festivals have been canceled. I am very hopeful that everything will be opening again soon and that we artists will emerge ever stronger than before.

Do you plan to release any singles at any point in the near future?

As soon as I can get into the studio – my latest single will be following soon after.

What/who influences you most as a band? What have you been listening to recently?

I have so many great influences, I appreciate all artists and what they do. Right now I am listening to Conan Gray, Dorothy, Bishop Briggs, Sam Tinnesz and the sound track of Arcane League of Legends. I’m focusing more on a darker genre to help me draw inspiration for 2022.

Has the pandemic hindered your work much?

Yes, mostly because I am not able to play and perform live – now I am unable to record my music, it isn’t so awful. I am very active on my social media accounts, keeping my friends and community entertained.

Do you have any tour dates lined up? What can people expect from one of your shows and why should people come and see you perform live?

No dates as of yet, but I am busy arranging tours in the UK mostly. The listener will honestly see what they hear, with pure energy and awesome music to match.

Any last words for the fans?

Stay positive and keep going – you can do it!
