Julie Hicklin is an electronic pop artist based in London who first caught my attention back in September through her moody track Dog Solitude. Now she’s back with a new one. It’s called It Should Be Me.

It Should Be Me is a collaboration, with instrumentals provided by fellow artist Fay. It’s over this textured soundscape that Julie tells her story of tragic love. Equal parts saddening and seductive, it’s a track that will find its way straight to your heart.
With Dog Solitude, I compared Julie’s sound to Goldfrapp and that comparison holds up here too. It’s such a powerful but underused sound. I’m glad Julie has embraced it and made it her own.
