Discovery: The Assist

Television Kid are an alterative rock band based in Walsall who have just released the second single from their debut album Council Pop. It’s called Television Kid.

The track tells the story of an energetic socialite. The character is fictional but probably someone you might recognise from your own life. They’re brought to life through well-observed lyrics, passionate vocals and a bright and breezy pop rock instrumental arrangement.

The Assist have previously shared stages with The Happy Mondays, Blossoms and Black Honey and they’ve certainly got the same kind of swagger about their sound. The album Council Pop is due for release on 8 April and you can listen to Television Kid below.
