Mary Ellen is a Dublin, Ireland-based alternative pop singer songwriter whose new song Catch-22 is a rally cry for all women who have been treated badly by the media.

Though certainly a pop track, there’s something fresh and unique about Mary Ellen’s sound. The track features a looping bass riff, simplistic but powerful piano and the faintest of percussion. The starring features are Mary’s vocals and her take-no-prisoners lyrics. She tells it like it is, venting her frustration, and the track is all the better for it.
Mary’s influences range from Kate Bush to The Pixies and that goes some way to explaining how she’s ended up sounding so different. I can’t wait to hear more from her. You can check out Catch-22 below.
