Tarn PK is a Wellington, New Zealand-based bedroom pop artist whose atmospheric new track Street Noise caught my attention.
By Graeme Smith
Street Noise is the kind of track you can get lost in. Layered electronic instrumentals set the scene immediately while Tarn serenades you with his soft vocals. What struck me most about it though was its poetic, image-laden lyrics, speaking of inner voices, fears and finding a way to deal with them.
Tarn was inspired by the likes of Mustafa, James Blake and brakence when coming up with his sound. I also detected hints of the Postal Service, but none of the comparisons are exact. He’s landed on something fresh and unique. I can’t wait to hear more from him.
