Discovery: Rachel Hill

Rachel Hill is a folk pop singer songwriter based in London whose new track Ice Cubes caught my attention.

Ice Cubes is a gentle acoustic folk track that explores the peculiarity of Internet trends. Rachel brings the idea to life through storytelling detail and a focus on the personal that I found very compelling. I was hanging on every word. The track builds to a dramatic climax with crashing percussion and soaring vocals.

Drawn to music from a young age, Rachel studied classical music at Cambridge University before completing an MA in commercial songwriting and production at Tileyard in London. I think the education has certainly paid off if Ice Cubes is anything to go by. The track is taken from Rachel’s forthcoming album set for release later this year. You can give it a listen below.
