Alex Beck is a Los Angeles, USA-based indie pop singer songwriter who Jane discovered for the blog last summer through her track Born To Lie. Now she’s back with a new one that will break your heart. It’s called Wishful Thinking.
By Graeme Smith
The track has a dreamy, wistful feel about it. A simple guitar refrain is matched by a heartbeat-reminiscent bass beat and Alex’s delicate and compelling vocals. When the track reaches its first chorus, there is a moment of stripped back clarity before it hits its main groove which carries you away. Narratively, Alex speaks of the realisation that her relationship has reached the end of the line and sadness mixes with heady hope of things to come.
Wishful Thinking is for fans of emotive indie pop like Japanese House and Sigrid. You can give it a listen below.
