Danny Wright recently released a new song, titled Train Wreck, which I loved. He’s got a great sound that mixes together the best of the rock and pop-punk worlds, so make sure you check the track out at the end of this interview if you haven’t already!

You recently released a track titled Train Wreck, which we reviewed. What can you tell us about the song? What does the title refer to?
Train Wreck is a song that expresses some frustrations with life choices and trying to feel happy with your position in life. The title comes from feeling like a complete lost mess, trying to find purpose. I think a lot of people can relate to that in some way or another.
Has the pandemic hindered your work much?
It’s a weird one, I didn’t write as much as I thought I would with having all that time. I was still creative in other ways. I did a bunch of covers and I did manage to release some music, so it didn’t hinder it too much.
What is the writing and recording process like for you?
Well, since the pandemic I have been recording everything at home, usually I go into a studio. But I have a little set up at home and my last few tracks have all been done there. When it comes to writing, I let that come naturally, whenever I have an idea or the feel to pick up the guitar I just jam. I don’t really have a routine to writing, I’ve always found it hard to force something out because I’m suppose to be ‘writing’. But I always make sure I’m close to a guitar, My phone is full of random ideas in my voice notes!
Do you plan to release any more singles in the near future?
Yes! I have more planned and I’ll always be releasing music, for as long as I can!
Have you started writing for an EP or an album?
Well I’ve released a couple of songs this year and I think it will all get tied up into an EP eventually. I would love to do an album one day though!
What/who influences you most as an artist? What have you been listening to recently?
Blink 182 have been the biggest influence but recently im very much enjoying the new wave of pop punk like MGK, Mod Sun, Jxdn, etc. It’s very exciting!
Where are you based? What is the music scene like in your part of the world?
I’m in London, so it has a thriving music scene and lots of different pockets of it, but I’m not from London. I’m actually from Reading and I cut my teeth in the music scene there when I was younger, it had a great scene and I learned a lot from local bands that were playing the shows in town!
Do you have any tour dates lined up?
YES I DO!! I’m going on tour in July!! and I’m super excited!
24th – Manchester
30th – Birmingham
31st – London

What can people expect from one of your shows and why should people come and see you perform live?
My live shows is where it all comes together, one of the main reasons I got into music was to play live! You can expect lots of energy and a really fun electric vibe!!
Any last words for the fans?
