Discovery: Holiday In Tokyo

Holiday in Tokyo are a Newcastle-based rock band whose gentle new track White Marquee has caught my attention.

White Marquee is a celebration of music passed down from generation to generation. Invoking memories of songwriter Matty’s childhood in caravan parks, the track’s story is brought to life through a classic soft rock composition. What really elevates it though, is the smooth characterful vocals.

Holiday in Tokyo are frontman Matty Rogers, guitarist Thomas Randell, pianist Jack McAllister and drummer Richard O’Neill. They came together thanks to a shared love of indie songwriters like Liz Lawrence, Nilufer Yanya and Courtney Barnett. Fans of any of those artists will find a lot to love about White Marquee.
