AA-Legrand is a musician who describes his music as being ‘music for a road trip’, which I found to be strangely apt, after listening to his new EP, Pacific EP. There are just three tracks on this short but sweet EP, with the dreamy vibes leaving you wanting for more well on into the night. This is one for those into their mellow folk music.

The EP opens up with Shade Of A Giant Master, which features a pretty fingerpicked electric guitar melody as its main instrumentation. The guitar lines have a flowing quality, changing slightly on the chorus to a more minimalist melody, underpinning the vocals well. The vocals have an echoey quality which suits the dreamy feels the song exudes. The song stays fairly steadfast in its motions as it continues on, but it sounds beautiful nevertheless.
Slow Sleep Fall Master is a slower tune with a stripped-down vibe. Little piano flourishes accompany the slow guitar melodies, with the focus being purely on the vocals here. Some percussion appears later on, adding a little rhythm to the piece, although it sounds very unique and adds a texture to the music that makes it stand out straight away! The vocal harmonies are the main stand-outs on this song, adding a haunting beauty to proceedings.
All Your Love Master includes elements of both of the previous songs, sounding like a culmination of all of AA-Legrand’s musical skills. The guitar is a little faster here, strumming along in style, with pretty little backing effects making this into a masterpiece. The vocal harmonies are completely on-point here as the guitars slow down, drawing you into the musical world of AA-Legrand perfectly.
The Pacific EP is a beautiful piece of work from AA-Legrand – it’s just a shame that there isn’t more of it, as it really draws you in as it progresses. There’s a certain haunting beauty to the songs here, segueing into each other in perfect style.
