New Music: E.W. Harris – Hammerhands

E.W. Harris is a New York, USA-based indie folk singer songwriter who first featured on our blog last summer through his unconventional tale of heartbreak Bad Ghost. His new one, a tale of exile, is called Hammerhands.

Hammerhands opens in a gentle way. Soulful vocalisations meld with acoustic guitar. When the first verse comes in though, the atmosphere goes slightly more sinister, with a folktale narrative of the other. It draws on classic influences from ’60s pop, blues and psychedelia, and is beautifully produced by Kia Eshghi. It’s a track into which you can melt.

Hearing Hammerhands has reminded me just how much I’ve missed E.W.’s music. I’m glad to have him back on the blog. You can check out the track below.
