Una Jensen is a young singer-songwriter and musician based in the sunny isles of LA. She released a song recently, Moves, and I felt it had a lot of promise. You can find the track at the end of this interview if you somehow missed it!

You recently released a song titled Moves, which we reviewed. What can you tell us about the song?
Moves is a song that I wrote with my friends, Chase Kroesch and Krysta Youngs, when I started to get really really rad opportunities last year… it became a mantra for me and I’d jam out in the car to the various demo versions, whilst on my way to rehearsals, sessions, meetings etc. It just made everything feel so real and I’m pretty sure it manifested even more rad opportunities!
How has the reception been so far, and where can Moves be purchased?
Moves can be streamed on all platforms and purchased on iTunes etc! People are loving it, I’ve had a bunch of people using it in reels and TikToks and I love to watch all of them!
Do you plan to release any more singles in the near future?
Yes! I’m slowly rolling out singles this year! Hopefully the next one will be some time before December!
Do you plan to release an EP or an album anytime soon?
Probably in the middle of next year! I’m working on it as we speak.
Has the pandemic hindered your work as a musician?
Actually, the pandemic made me more driven. As a producer, I’ve never created more than I have during the pandemic. I had to juice up my mobile rig so that I could create and then I was off to the races!!
Your music is rather poppy. What/who influences you most as an artist? What have you been listening to recently?
I listen to everything. Ev-ery-thing. My biggest influence currently is Jon Bellion. He inspired me on so many levels…
We featured your track in a round-up review and playlist based around female voices. Do you think the music world is harder to navigate as women?
In some ways yes. Others: no. As a producer who is a woman, I am less common and therefore more interesting and intriguing. This makes it easier to hook people in once I have their attention. BUT being a woman makes it harder to get one’s attention in the first place. Also, I don’t think people take me as seriously out of the gate because I’m a young looking woman…
You’re based in California. What is the music scene like in your part of the world?
Saturated! In some ways it’s good because there are so many like minded people that you can connect with. In other ways it’s frustrating because you can so easily be lost in the noise.
Do you have any tour dates lined up for the UK?
I don’t! Maybe some time in the next couple of years!
Any last words for the fans?
Making music and writing these lyrics has been such a personal experience for me. I hope that people will connect with with them and keep listening.
