Northern Ireland-based singer songwriter Kid Apollo has featured on the blog a couple of times before now and I always look forward to hearing more of his music. His latest was written after a bad bout of COVID and it’s called Smokescreen.

Kid Apollo is a rocker but Smokescreen has a gentler sound to it. Acoustic guitar gives it a raw sense of immediateness and lets his poetic lyrics take centre stage. In them, he mixes the personal with commentary of the wider world, painting a picture of feeling left behind. It comes into stark sharpness during a soaring, emotive chorus.
Smokescreen is another great offering from an artist who really has set himself apart from his contemporaries. You can give it a listen below.
And if you like music on the acoustic side, be sure to follow our Raw Stuff playlist on Spotify.
