Abby London is a cracking singer-songwriter with an amazing sound, as displayed in her track, Hysteria. I decided to find out a little more about Abby and her music – if you missed Hysteria the first time round, you can also find it below!

You recently released a single titled Hysteria, which we reviewed. What can you tell us about the song?

They said the video says a lot without saying much.
Do you plan to release any more singles in the near future?
Yes! I’m releasing a song called Off the Grid in early November.
Do you plan to release an album or EP anytime soon?
I’m working on it. Hopefully at the end of this year or early next year.
Has the pandemic hindered your work much?
A bit but not much. My state was too strict so I had to do house shows and underground shows because the venues were unreliable and discriminatory towards my audience.
You’re quite a political artist. Are there any causes you’d like to draw attention to at the moment?
Oh gosh, there are so many. I just went to a city council meeting to speak out against eliminating single family zoning so that is fresh on my mind. It’s a movement sweeping the PNW. I live in a small suburb of Seattle called Kenmore. The council wants to triple the amount of residences allowed per acre. There were over 50 of us speaking out against it. It was invigorating. I highly encourage seeing what your local city council is up to and giving public comment. Doing it makes me more nervous than playing a show. I’m up late writing this because it got me so wound up. I actually ran for my city council and lost. Tonight was my first time seeing and speaking out to my opponent face to face.
You’re based in Seattle. What is the local music scene like?
Oh gosh. I kind of don’t know. I stopped trying to fit in a few years ago. I like my little underground clique.
Your music is more of an alt-pop song. What/who influences you most as artists? What have you been listening to recently?
I really liked Kate Bush. It’s weird how popular she is from the recent Stranger Things season! My first CD was En Vogue. I got very into Tori Amos in middle school and high school. I’ve been listening to rock lately like Bush and Tom McDonald. I like listening to girl singers like Fletcher and Nina Nesbitt.
Do you have any plans to tour in the UK?
I’m not popular enough yet.
