New Music: Josie Edie May – Blue

I first became aware of Brighton-based singer songwriter Josie Edie May’s music over the summer thanks to her homesick ballad Sea Salt. Now she’s back with a new one that simply brims with positivity. It’s called Blue.

In Blue, Josie combines acoustic instrumentation with ambient sounds, including the noises of the arcade on Brighton Pier, to create something upbeat and interesting. What keeps you listening, though, are her lyrics. Rich with wordplay, they bring a smile to your face in the verse and lift your heart during a soaring chorus.

For the track, Josie took inspiration from Taylor Swift, Phoebe Bridgers and Maisie Peters and fans of any of those artists will find a lot to love about Blue. You can give it a listen below.
