Discovery: Josie Edie May

Based in Brighton, Josie Edie May is an acoustic singer songwriter who has caught my attention. Inspired by the likes of Kacey Musgraves, Gabrielle Aplin and Nina Nesbitt, her latest track speak of homesickness. It’s called Sea Salt.

It was the imagery in Sea Salt‘s lyrics that drew me to it. Josie paints a picture with her words. There’s a starkness to it. A piano melody accompanies Josie’s delicate vocals. The result is that the lyrics have the space to grab you. Once they do, they won’t let you go.

At this stage in her life, Josie finds herself torn between two places, and penned this ode to her hometown while on Hove beach, reflecting on her feelings leaving it behind. You can give Sea Salt below.
