Kindelan is the new performing name of Yorkshire-based singer songwriter Laura Kindelan, an artist very familiar to our pages. The name change marks her new approach to jazz-infused alternative soul, as demonstrated by her new single The Other Side.

The Other Side opens intimately with acoustic guitar and melancholic vocals. It quickly develops into something richer, with electronic layers and undercurrents of lively percussion. It’s the kind of track that will get you nodding your head which also clutching your heart.

I’m liking this development of Kindelan’s sound, which shows a growing maturity while pushing her musical boundaries. Fans of Lianne La Havas, Hiatus Kaiyote’s Nai Palm or Denai Moore will approve.
