VARPU is a Swedish alternative pop artist who found she had an unexpected way of dealing with the lying men of her path. Rather than weeping about the heartbreak – she hardened. That’s the inspiration behind her new track Hardcore.

Hardcore opens with hyperpop elements before evolving into something a little more acoustic pop. There’s a sense of laidback resignation about its style, particularly VARPU’s vocals, that delivers effortless, flowing verses rich with storytelling detail. It’s as magical as it is relatable.

Before hitting our radar, VARPU has already released a string of singles and collaborated with some of Scandinavia’s most acclaimed artists. Her cover of Que Sera Sera even featured in a film. She’s an artist I’ll certainly be keeping a close eye on.
