I’ve featured Nightly Gatherings, real name Connor Johnson, before on the blog, but not since April last year. I’m glad to say the California, USA-based producer, vocalist and songwriter has returned courtesy of his latest track New Beginnings.

Nightly Gatherings is true bedroom pop. New Beginnings was written, recorded and produced all inside Connor’s bedroom and, while there is a sense of intimacy about it, you wouldn’t know that it hadn’t been made in a studio, such is its level of professionalism. Expansive and emotive electronic layers are elevated by vocals in a track that simply doesn’t let up. Lyrically, it explores the concept of relationships, and the joy and heartbreak they bring.
