About Gorillas and Vampires is the intriguingly-named electronic pop duo of Cologne, Germany-based lyricist and singer Stephanie and songwriter and producer Tobias. The two are partners in more than one sense. Having met and bonded over music in 2010, they later married.

The name comes, surprisingly enough, from a pair of stuffed animals that have become their travel buddies. It’s one of the pair’s many quirks, which also includes wearing masks to perform – inspired by horror films and famous masked acts like Daft Punk.

Yet, it’s none of this novelty that drew me to About Gorillas and Vampires, but rather the freshness of their sound. Their latest track is called Space/Ripley, an atmospheric piece that combines human pop vibes and otherworldly electronic and ambient elements. The beat is utterly infectious. I challenge you not to move along to it!
