London-based electronic pop artist Bonze, real name Jack Reardon, has featured before on our blog. Back in March I ran the rule over his wonderfully innovative track Self. Now he’s back with a new one that similarly brings us a different side of pop. It’s called (Mercedes).

(Mercedes) combines a simple lyrical narrative about the uncertainty of life with a complex electronic instrumental arrangement that divides its time between alternative pop and dance music. Jack is heavily inspired by ’90s club culture, including acts like The Chemical Brothers and Daniel Avery, and those influences come through strongly during the heavier parts of (Mercedes). What comes through most strongly though, is Jack’s fresh take on the genre and the track’s genuine emotion.

It’s another beautiful track from Bonze, and a timely reminder of what’s he’s bringing to the UK underground scene. You can check out (Mercedes) below.
