LUMER are a Hull-based post-punk act that have featured on our blog once before, but not since the start of 2021. The band have been busy since, supporting Thee Oh Sees on their US tour, gaining plays on BBC Radio 1 and 6 Music, and going on tour themselves in the UK. They’ve just released their latest single. It’s called English Dream.
By Graeme Smith
English Dream sums up lead singer Alex Evan’s view of our country, one that focusses on the imbalance in our society and the joylessness of our political and social climate. Perhaps the most damnation comes for the British people, who are doing so little to protest the situation, and Alex doesn’t hold any punches in English Dream’s lyrics. All the while the story unfolds against a sleazy backdrop of grungy rock.
LUMER are doing some special things on the UK punk scene right now and it’s great when we get that from an act that’s based just down the road.
