Allie Jason is a Massachusetts-based performer and artist creating captivating new sounds, with her release, Best Thing That I Ever Did, being a fantastic example. As such, I thought it would be the right time to find out a little more about her with an interview, which you can read below!

You recently released a single titled Best Thing That I Ever Did. What can you tell us about the track?
This song is taken from heartbreak, then mended into inspiration and empowerment. Based off of toxic abuse, Best Thing That I Ever Did highlights a new perspective within cutting off a relationship such as this, which in doing so causes immense pain, by seeing your own personal empowerment in finally finding the strength within yourself to walk away for good.
How has the reception to Best Thing That I Ever Did been so far, and where can the song be purchased?
Honestly this track has seemingly been very well received so far, which I’m insanely happy about. You can find it for purchase on iTunes and Amazon music. It’s also available for streaming on all platforms, including a ‘self-made’ music video on YouTube.
Do you plan to release any more singles in the near future?
I definitely have a large list of originals from over the years that have yet to be recorded and released, so it’s guaranteed you’ll continue to hear from me.
Are there any plans to release an EP or an album anytime soon?
That’s a secret.
Did the pandemic hinder your work much?
When it comes to performing, most DEFINITELY. When it comes to writing and recording, it SKY-ROCKETED my work. I was constantly making new music with all the newfound time on my hands. I believe I came out of it with 2 released albums and a single, as well as 1 unreleased album.
Your music contains elements of the indie and pop genres. What/who influences you most as an artist? What have you been listening to recently?
I’d say my biggest influence is my experiences, and the sound comes along with it. Over the years, however, I’ve taken influence from a multitude of artists that eventually molded me into my own sound, such as Miley Cyrus, David Cook, Lady GaGa, Janis Joplin, Jim Morrison, Lana Del Rey, Post Malone, Billie Eilish and so many others.
Recently I’ve been listening to underground/up and coming artists such as Tyler Levs, Troubadour Davis, Lefty Grove, etc., as well as my phone on shuffle and some oldies here and there.
Q: What is the composition process like for you?
Normally when it comes to these types of tracks, it tends to start with a feeling, which either emotional and or/physical. From there I would open GarageBand and just roll with it, the lyrics coming either before or after. Once the process has started it’s kinda like I go into a trance and before I know it, I have a new song. Hours upon hours can go by and I don’t normally stop until I get a gut feeling that I’m at a good place to.
You’re based in Massachusetts. What is the music scene like in your part of the world?
You might not expect it but there’s a LARGE amount of really talented and driven artists here just waiting to be heard by the masses. To name a few of my favorites, I highly recommend Crooked Coast, Troubadour Davis (as mentioned earlier) and Lefty Grove (as mentioned earlier). All of them recently dropped new albums as well, which you can find on all platforms!
Do you have any tour dates lined up for the UK?
I do not, but I would absolutely love to!
