Austel, real name Anne Rew Shaw, is a Devon-born, London-based artist and producer who has just caught my attention for the first time through her dreamy track and video Cut Me Down.

Cut Me Down is a delicate track that combines classic and electronic instrumentals to create a rich soundscape. What elevates it all though, are Annie’s vocals which are utterly haunting. The lyrics speak of love lost before it’s even been held and the good side of letting go. It’s all beautifully life-affirming.
Annie worked alongside friend, producer and engineer Ruby Smith (aka post-dusk) to help realise Cut Me Down and the together the pair have created magic. You can watch the video for Cut Me Down below.
