Pet Snake, aka Evelyn Halls of Liverpool band Clean Cut Kid, has featured on this blog a couple of times now. Last year I featured her track and video Still Doing The Same, and it’s a song I’ve returned to on many occasion.

Her new track Crashing shows us a different side of the Pet Snake sound. While previous singles Coffee and Still Doing The Same felt raw and intimate, Crashing is an upbeat and anthemic affair. It dwells on one of the lasting impacts of the pandemic – the sense of social anxiety it’s created, bringing the feeling to life through a bittersweet indie pop arrangement, and Evelyn’s always compelling vocals and memorable lyrics.
The more I hear of Pet Snake, the more I’m certain that she’s a very special artist. You can check out Crashing for yourself below.
