New York City, USA-based alternative pop singer songwriter Emei has featured a couple of times before on our blog, and I never tire of her fresh take on pop. Her latest is no exception. It takes on the concept of the duplicity of saying something and then pretending you haven’t. It’s called Backtrack.

We’ve all been there. Someone has said something to upset us and, when it has, they try and recreate the universe so that it hasn’t. Once or twice can be forgiven, but in the scenario of Backtrack, it has become a recurring theme in a relationship.

Backtrack is delivered with a bright yet moody pop rock arrangement but it’s the attention to detail in her lyrics that really sets Emei apart from other modern pop musicians. It’s so great to have her on the blog again. You can check out the lyric video to Backtrack below.
