Close But No Cigar are an Italy-based rock band who have just caught my attention thanks to their new single Tokyo. Telling the story of the journey to achieving your dreams, it’s rock for fans of Biffy Clyro or Royal Blood.

Sometimes things can seem impossible until their done. Close But No Cigar bring this feeling to life through the idea of travelling to the other side of the world, or specifically, Japan. The story is driven forward through passionate, charismatic vocals and some strong guitar riffs. The drums are kept lively and the bass rumbling. It’s everything you want from swaggering indie rock.
Though new to us, Close But No Cigar have already been busy putting themselves on the musical map. They released their debut EP The Dance of Venus in 2021, and this is their first single release since. You can give Tokyo a listen below.
