Odonian Drifts, the musical project of poet I.S. (Iain) Rowley, has featured on our blog once before as part of Jane’s Something Different round up. In her list of out here music, Iain was described as being the most experimental, so I was keen to delve into his world myself. His latest is called Promethean Lag (Fractured Tale 1).

Promethean Lag certainly goes deeper than the majority of music out there, but that is in no way off-putting. The scene is set early on through an ethereal electronic arrangement before the vocals come in, delivered somewhere between spoken word and singing. Iain’s background as a poet is quickly evident in his descriptive language. It’s definitely a story you can get lost in.

I love music that is truly innovative and unique and that’s certainly what you get with Odonian Drifts. Come to it with an open mind and you won’t be disappointed. You can list to Promethean Lag below.
